“… None of the stories on the mishandling of assaults on campus has explained why an attack on a campus, whether private or public, is investigated, handled and adjudicated by the school’s personnel. Schools have a conflict of interest. It is in their best interest to convince prospective students and their parents that their campuses are safe. A complete and thorough investigation is called for by impartial local law enforcement; it has training and more experience in dealing with violence of this nature. Would a private business have the luxury of handling such an attack on its own? …”
