February 10, 2020 – Kids Need Both, Inc. Hosts Event in Lakeland through Grassroots Collaboration
Eight years ago may be the first time the Lakeland community became aware of Danica Joan’s advocacy organization, Kids Need Both, Inc, when she pulled together a few friends to request the City of Lakeland deem the month of April as “Parental Alienation Awareness Month.” And her efforts did not stop there.
Over the years, her team has grown to include partnerships with advocates and agencies across the United States. In fact, Kids Need Both, Inc. is a partner of Family Fundamentals and can be found in the United Ways’ 2-1-1 database of services.
The next significant event hosted by Kids Need Both, Inc. is April 24-25, 2020 at Polk Museum of Art at FSC Auditorium. “Guardians & Gatekeepers Conference for Professionals” is focused on educators, lawyers and mental health professionals who are impacted by high-conflict families. Danica’s goal is to provide professionals with clear understanding of the hidden dynamics prevalent in high conflict families. The Guardians & Gatekeepers Conference offers continuing education credits for professionals. This conference is also for the public.
Bud Veno and Danica Joan co-host the event with much of the dynamic energy they share in their weekly show, “Custody Matters Live” on Dad Talk Today Network.

Hostile aggressive parenting affects a broad range of professions, which is why the conference starts day-two with a Panel Discussion with community leaders, followed by a premiere of the critically acclaimed documentary, Erasing Family. The event concludes with a “Bubbles of Love” celebration for families.
Kids Need Both, Inc is a family advocacy organization founded by Danica Joan in 2004 through her own personal struggles in a high-conflict family. “I found that each time a new counselor or teacher dealt with my family I had to educate them on what the family was personally going through because it seemed like nobody really understood.” It is Danica’s hope that if professionals are better educated prior to managing parental conflict; this will reduce the healing time for the children.
